About

I have been working with individuals, couples and families since 1996. I am fortunate and proud to have a culturally diverse clientele. I work with all clients in a manner that is personal, respectful and results-oriented. Whether you are entering therapy for the first time or restarting the therapeutic process, I will “meet you where you are” and help you navigate this process that often yields personal surprises along the way.

My intention is to work with you in a way that is genuine and empathetic in order to promote personal growth. I have years of experience and interest working with a variety of populations with varying concerns, and embrace that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Therapeutic needs begin to change as one works through issues and so I must be able to adjust as well. I enjoy drawing from different therapy models (experiential, reality based, attachment based) in order to provide a therapeutic experience that continuously “meets you where you are.”

Qualifications

    Spelman College | 1992

  • Master’s Degree | Community Counseling
    Georgia State University | 1996

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

I have completed an intensive externship and core-skills training and various workshops in EFT (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy) developed by Dr. Susan Johnson. I use the EFT model to support couples seeking to repair a relationship that has been strained or broken in some way. EFT pays close attention the security (or lack there-of) couples experience with each other and the emotions emerging from that level of security or connection. Please visit iceeft.com for more information.

I participate in workshops, online training, podcast learning and independent reading on subject matter pertaining to my professional interests and professional trends. I have worked extensively in community mental health, substance abuse treatment (inpatient, outpatient, residential and legal), family programs and more. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to grow professionally in the many facets that being a professional counselor can offer.

I lend my professional expertise to media and professional organizations who are seeking further understanding on the matters of mental health and community impact.
