I received a BA degree in Psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1992. I pursued and received my Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University in 1996. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor or LPC since 2000.
I have completed an intensive externship and core-skills training and various workshops in EFT (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy) developed by Dr. Susan Johnson. I use the EFT model to support couples seeking to repair a relationship that has been strained or broken in some way. EFT pays close attention the security (or lack there-of) couples experience with each other and the emotions emerging from that level of security or connection. Please visit www.eft.ca for more information.
I participate in workshops, online training, podcast learning and independent reading on subject matter pertaining to my professional interests and professional trends. I have worked extensively in community mental health, substance abuse treatment (inpatient, outpatient, residential and legal), family programs and more. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to grow professionally in the many facets that being a professional counselor can offer.
